The head of the migration service of the Odesa region Andrii Moraru found himself at the center of a scandal due to the failure to declare valuable property. According to investigators, the official did not include a mansion, commercial real estate and a luxury car in his declaration, which caused public outrage and suspicions of corruption.
According to the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, Andrii Moraru, the head of the regional office of migration control in the Odesa region, did not declare a house in Odesa with an area of 200 m² with a land plot of 637 m², in which he actually lived and paid utility bills.
Also, an apartment of 48.6 m², an office, a shop, a plot of land in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi and a garage in Zatoka were not found in the declaration. He issued a part of it to his mother, and a part to his wife. And Moraru did not indicate in the declaration the Audi RS Q 8 (2021), which he purchased in April 2023.
The official faces from 51 to 85 thousand. UAH a fine, or from 150 to 240 hours of community service, or up to two years of imprisonment with a ban on holding certain positions for up to three years.
That's also on top of the $20,000 bribe he can get to avoid deportation, which Morara was caught doing back in the summer of this year. In September, the case was already sent to court.
