Traditional festive feasts in Ukraine will become more expensive in December 2024 by 15-17% compared to last year. This information was announced by the executive director of the Economic Discussion Club, Oleg Pendzyn.
What is getting more expensive and how much?
The increase in prices is already noticeable, but a significant jump is expected after December 15. Among the most expensive products are smoked meats, fish and dairy products.
"Prices for smoked meats, fish and milk will start to rise sharply after mid-December," Pendzyn noted.
Special attention should be paid to vegetables. Thus, the price of the popular "borscht set" increased 2.5 times over the year, and onions became the leader in price increases among basic products.
How the cost of festive tables changes
In 2023, the cost of a New Year's table cost Ukrainians an average of 2,879 hryvnias. This year, according to experts' forecasts, this amount may increase significantly, taking into account inflation and the general trend of increasing food prices.
For example, bread has become more expensive by 10%, and prices for meat, milk and vegetables continue to rise.
Oleg Pendzyn emphasizes that the general increase in the price of products reflects the economic situation in the country.
"A 15-17% increase in prices is a moderate indicator against the background of a significant increase in the cost of basic products during the year," he noted.
Ukrainians are advised to plan purchases in advance, as prices may rise significantly after mid-December. Optimizing the holiday menu and finding alternative products can also help reduce costs.
