On his Telegram channel, People's Deputy and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev, announced the projected losses of the state budget of Ukraine from the new blocking of the Polish border, which is happening now.
According to him, losses to the Ukrainian budget may reach 7.7 billion hryvnias if the border blockade is not lifted by the end of this month. This is a significant amount, which will affect the functioning of customs and the general economic situation of the country, especially in February.
In recent developments, since February 9, Polish farmers have announced a strike on the border with Ukraine, during which they plan to block all checkpoints and roads in some regions, making demands related to agricultural policy and livestock support.
This situation seriously complicates the movement of trucks at blocked checkpoints, which has a significant impact on Ukrainian exports, along with limiting the import of agricultural products.
Recently, Ukrainian internal-external economic relations suffered great losses due to the blockade of the western borders, which continued intermittently until the end of 2023. According to the report of the National Bank of Ukraine, the volume of foreign trade decreased by 860 million dollars in November and by another 620 million dollars in December. Ukraine has lost approximately $1.5 billion in potential revenue by the end of 2023.
