It remains three weeks before Easter, and Ukrainians are already thinking about how much this year they will have to put for traditional dishes to the festive basket. And it seems that the holiday of the Light Resurrection will not be cheap again.
Analysts are already predicting: in 2025, the Easter basket will cost more than last year. There are several reasons for the rise in price: increased energy prices, inflation, dairy price and seasonal demand. According to the expert of the Ukrainian Agrarian Business Club Maxim Gopka, the most Easter eggs and dairy products, as well as eggs, will increase most. These components are key to the holiday table.
According to UKAB, the cost of eggs, in addition to seasonality, will also affect the prices of bird feed. If the weather conditions are favorable, in April the cost of eggs can be reduced by 25-30%, but by that time-only fluctuations within 5-8 UAH from today.
In order not to be at the epicenter of the predetermined excitement, analysts advise some of the products to be purchased in advance. Meat can be frozen, sausages - stored in sealed packaging, and ingredients for Easter eggs - flour, butter, sugar - have a long shelf life.
As of the end of March, prices look like this: pork blade costs from 159 to 184 UAH per kg, sausage - from 119 UAH for 200 g to more than 590 UAH per kg. Flour, though slightly cheaper, costs an average of 23-26 UAH/kg, butter - about 100-110 UAH per pack of 180 g, and sugar - within 32-35 UAH/kg.
Prices are expected to rise closer to the holiday, so purchasing planning is not just a saving, but also a way to avoid queues and stress.
The conclusion is obvious that the Easter basket in 2025 will not be an exception to the total rise in price of products in Ukraine. However, predictability and early preparation can help reduce financial load - without sacrificing taste and holiday atmosphere.
