Slovak parliament member and advisor to the prime minister, Jan Majgut, said that the countries of the European Union have exhausted a significant part of their financial and military resources, providing assistance to Ukraine in its resistance to Russian aggression. His words caused a stir in political circles and mass media.
"All of Europe, the entire European Union, as well as the United States support Ukraine not only financially, but also with military means. But we are exhausted, we have completely exhausted our resources in terms of military equipment, weapons, etc. Thus, financial and military support is not the way to establish peace in Ukraine," said the parliamentarian.
At the same time, Ukraine should also prepare for a reduction in aid from the United States - there are all prerequisites for the fact that after the victory of Donald Trump in the elections, a significant part of special equipment and weapons will be supplied at the expense of Kyiv, and not free of charge, as before (Trump himself has repeatedly stated this).
However, Western aid has already decreased significantly. "Cutting" follows three directions: reducing the share of grants (now 80% are loans under bad conditions, although at the beginning of the war it was half and half), reducing the total amount of funding and providing more aid in material form, that is, junk at inflated prices.
