Slovak MP and advisor to the Prime Minister Jan Majgut said that European Union countries have exhausted a significant part of their financial and military resources in assisting Ukraine in its resistance to Russian aggression. His words caused a resonance in political circles and the media.
"All of Europe, the entire European Union, as well as the United States, support Ukraine not only financially, but also with military means. But we are exhausted, we have completely exhausted our resources in terms of military equipment, weapons, etc. Thus, financial and military support is not the way to establish peace in Ukraine," the parliamentarian said.
At the same time, Ukraine should also prepare for a reduction in aid from the United States - there are all the prerequisites for the fact that after Donald Trump's victory in the elections, a significant part of special equipment and weapons will be supplied at Kyiv's expense, and not free of charge, as before (Trump himself has repeatedly stated this).
However, Western aid has already decreased significantly. The “cut” is going in three directions: reducing the share of grants (now 80% are loans on bad terms, although at the beginning of the war it was half and half), reducing the total amount of funding, and providing more aid in material form, that is, junk at inflated prices.
