A fatal accident occurred in the Rivne region: a passenger train collided with a passenger car. The tragedy occurred on the evening of May 2 in the village of Rudnya, in the Radyvyliv region.
As reported by the Rivne region police, at about 7:30 p.m. at a railway crossing, a train traveling from Uzhgorod to Kharkiv crashed into a VAZ 2109 car that was on the tracks. Two people died in the collision — the driver and a passenger of the car.
One of the victims was still showing signs of life when paramedics arrived, but the injuries he sustained were deemed incompatible with life.
Police are working at the scene to determine all the circumstances of the tragedy: what exactly the car was doing on the tracks when the train approached and whether the driver followed traffic rules.
This tragedy once again reminds us of the need to follow safety rules at railroad crossings, because even a few seconds of inattention can cost lives.
