On August 13, a tragedy occurred in the Khmelnytskyi region: a bus with children overturned on the H-03 highway near the village of Vyshnopil of the Starokostyantiniv territorial community. As a result of the traffic accident, one child and one adult accompanying the group of children died. This was reported in the Communications Department of the Khmelnytskyi Oblast Police.
The accident happened at 07:45 in the morning. The "LAZ Liner" bus transported 19 children and 4 adults from the village of Lubar, Zhytomyr Region, to the village of Mykulychyn, Ivano-Frankivsk Region. According to preliminary data, the bus driver lost control, which led to the overturning of the vehicle.
At the time of the accident, there were 23 people in the bus: 19 children, two adults accompanying the group, and two drivers. One 12-year-old girl and one adult died on the spot, the number of injured and the nature of their injuries are currently being determined. All victims were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
At the scene of the incident, an investigative-operational group of the Department of Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Public Security Service of Ukraine in Khmelnytskyi Region is working. Investigations are ongoing, including an examination of the accident scene and documentation of the accident's consequences. The issue of entering information into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for violations of road safety rules that lead to serious consequences, is being resolved.
