The Command of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed the appointment of Roman Gladky as Chief of Staff. This decision was the subject of public discussion, but the command emphasized that Gladky successfully passed all the necessary checks by the Security Service of Ukraine.
The Unmanned Systems Forces Command responded to the scandal that arose due to the appointment of Roman Gladkyi to the position of Chief of Staff of the Unmanned Systems Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Captain 1st Rank Roman Gladkyi is an officer with many years of experience in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has a relevant military education and significant experience in serving in leadership positions in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Including, in 2020-2023, in the positions of Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the Joint Forces Command, and later Deputy Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The command reports that Gladkyi underwent specialized training in Canada, and with the beginning of the full-scale aggression, he performed tasks in various directions, in particular during the organization of anti-landing defense of the coast in Odessa.
According to available information, during 2018-2019, Captain 1st Rank Gladkyi passed all necessary checks by the Security Service of Ukraine and has permission to work with information with the highest degree of secrecy
The Unmanned Systems Forces Command advises that this branch of the military is in a phase of formation and development, which requires understanding, patience, and, at times, silence. The command hopes that the media and media figures will seek official comments before publishing any information.
They note that they are always open to communication to the extent possible.
"You could already see the public part of our work at enemy airfields, warehouses, and bases. There will be more to come," the statement added.
Since July 2016, Gladkyi has held the position of Chief of Staff and First Deputy Commander of the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In 2018, he was suspended from his position pending an internal investigation. At the time, the media reported that this could have been related to both financial and economic violations and information about his wife's Russian citizenship.
In addition, it was noted that for the first two years after the start of the war, Gladky's wife and children allegedly continued to live in temporarily occupied Crimea, while the daughter of the Ukrainian officer was engaged in swimming and successfully competed for the Central Sports Club of the Russian Army.
However, in 2018, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine denied information that these facts could have become the basis for an internal investigation into Gladky. Instead, they called the main reason for his dismissal "improper performance of official duties.".
