On Thursday, January 8, Ukraine is expected to experience difficult winter weather with heavy precipitation across almost the entire country. According to forecasters, weather conditions will vary dramatically depending on the region: from severe frosts and snowfall in the west to spring warmth and rain in the south.
In the west of the country, sub-zero temperatures will persist, with heavy snowfalls predicted. Most northern regions and parts of the central regions will see wet snow and rain. The south and southeast will be under the influence of warm air masses, with rain and temperatures up to +13°C expected.
It will be cloudy in Kyiv during the day. At night the temperature will drop to -4°, during the day it will warm up to +2°. Heavy sleet and rain are expected.
In Lviv, Lutsk, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi and Uzhhorod, cloudy weather and heavy snowfalls are forecast. Night temperatures will range from -10°…-11°, during the day - from -4° to -2°.
In Vinnytsia and Zhytomyr, it will also be cloudy with heavy snow. The temperature will drop to -6°…-8° at night, and to -2°…-3° during the day.
Wet snow with rain is expected in Chernihiv, Sumy, and Cherkasy. The air temperature will range from -3° at night to +3°…+4° during the day.
Rainy weather will prevail in the central and southern regions. In Kropyvnytskyi, the temperature will warm up to +10° in the afternoon, in Poltava - to +7°. In Odessa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Zaporizhia and Dnipro, weather forecasters predict cloudy weather and rain, the temperature in the afternoon will reach +11°...+12°.
Rain is also expected in Kharkiv, Kramatorsk, and Severodonetsk with temperatures ranging from +7° to +9° during the day.
In Simferopol, rain and the highest temperatures are forecast - from +5° at night to +13° during the day.
Forecasters warn that the combination of precipitation and temperature fluctuations may cause ice to form on the roads, so drivers and pedestrians should be especially careful.
