Snow fell in several regions of Ukraine on September 30, which came as a surprise to many. The winter precipitation was recorded in the Zakarpattia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, in particular in Dragobrat, where a corresponding video appeared online.
In Ivano-Frankivsk region, snow was also observed near Petros and on the Pozhyzhevskaya plain. Photos of the winter landscape on the Pozhyzhevskaya plain taken by Vasyl Shepetyuk confirm this information.
At the top of Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirsky, the temperature dropped to -5°C, accompanied by fog and a northerly wind at a speed of 20-22 m/s, according to the Chornohirsky Mountain Search and Rescue Post.
The Ukrhydrometeorological Center warned of possible wet snow, but most regions of Ukraine promised no precipitation today. Only in the west and north of the country was light rain expected, while in the highlands of the Carpathians, wet snowfall was possible. The temperature in the western regions ranged from +9° to +14°, and in the rest of the territory from +20° to +25°, in the northern regions - from +14° to +19°.
Forecaster Ihor Kybalchych noted that October 2024 will begin with summer heat, but on the 5th-6th there will be a sharp drop in temperature by 7-13 degrees. Strong winds and rain are expected, but in the second decade of the month the temperature will rise again due to the arrival of warm air masses from southwestern Europe.
Despite the expected cooling in early October, overall this month promises to be 1-2.5 °C above the climatic norm, with the greatest warmth in the southeastern regions of Ukraine and in Crimea.
