On March 29, Russia launched a new combined attack on Ukraine with Shaheds, cruise missiles from the Tu-95MS and aeroballistic daggers from the MiG-31.
During the massive attack that lasted all night, the Russians fired 99 missiles of various types and drones at energy facilities of Ukraine, the Air Force reported in the morning. 58 "shaheeds" and 26 rockets were shot down.
Energy facilities in Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad and Ivano-Frankivsk regions were hit, the Ministry of Energy reports. The target of the attack was, in particular, electricity generation facilities.
The Ukrenergo company reported that thermal and hydroelectric power plants in various parts of the country were damaged.
As a result of the attack, emergency shutdowns began in Dnipropetrovsk region, and hourly shutdown schedules began in Kharkiv region.
Russia again struck the district of the city of Stryi in the Lviv region, where a large gas storage facility is located. There is no information about the consequences yet.
Due to a massive missile attack in Ukraine, Poland raised aircraft at night.
A night of alarms and explosions
The attack began after midnight with the "Shaheeds", who attacked the central and western regions of Ukraine almost all night, scouting the air defense system.
After 4 a.m., cruise missiles launched from Tu-95MS flew into the territory of Ukraine, and around 5 a.m., Russia struck with "daggers."
As the Air Force reported, Russia launched several "daggers" that hit the Lviv region near Stryi. The Russians hit this city during the March 24 attack on gas facilities.
Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Oblast, reported about the "dagger" strike near Stryi.
At the same time, around 5 o'clock in the morning, as reported by the Air Force, Russia hit the southern and central regions with ballistic missiles, in particular in the direction of Kremenchuk and the Dnipro, explosions were heard there. It was also reported about the strike near Myrhorod.
After 5 o'clock in the morning, the first groups of Tu-95 cruise missiles reached Lviv region via Volyn, the rest of the missiles headed west through Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia regions. In the end, the rockets headed in the direction of Ivano-Frankivsk.
As reported on social networks, explosions were heard near these cities, and air defense was working.
After 5.30, the Air Force reported several times about new missiles that attacked targets near Frankivsk. During past attacks in this region, the Russians hit the Burshtynskaya thermal power plant.
The air alert ended after 6 o'clock in the morning.
Consequences of blows
At night, 12 missiles and 12 drones were shot down over Dnipropetrovsk region, the regional administration reports.
Energy facilities were damaged in the Dnipro, Kryvoriz and Kamian districts - a man was injured at one of them.
Five people were wounded in Kamianskyi, among them a 5-year-old girl. Two victims were hospitalized, summer houses were destroyed, cars were mutilated.
DTEK reported in the morning that three of its thermal power plants were under attack. The equipment is seriously damaged.
The authorities of Cherkasy region also reported on rocket hits to the infrastructure facility.
The head of the regional administration, Ihor Taburets, said that 6 "shaheeds" and one cruise missile were shot down over the region at night.
The administration of Ivano-Frankivsk region also reported on the attack on critical infrastructure facilities.
In Kharkiv Oblast, as a result of Russian shelling over the previous day, two people were killed and nine were injured, reported Oleg Sinegubov, head of OVA.
Massive strikes last week
On March 21, Russia, after a month-long break, carried out the first massive spring strike that hit Kyiv. 17 people were injured in the capital and the region, but the rockets were shot down.
The military reported 31 downed missiles. According to the Armed Forces, the Russian military used 29 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles launched from 11 Tu-95MS strategic bombers.
In addition, according to the summary of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there were two more ballistic missiles - "Iskander-M" and "Kinzhal". Most of the missiles maneuvered through many regions of the country and eventually headed for the capital.
Residential buildings, kindergartens and industrial facilities were destroyed in Kyiv and the region.
On March 22, Russia carried out the largest attack on Ukraine's energy sector during the entire war. There were hits and damage to generation facilities throughout the country. The legendary Dnipro HPP in Zaporizhzhya was hit, and Kharkiv was left without electricity.
The restoration of power supply after that is still ongoing.
Emergency blackouts began in seven regions of the south and east of the country. Three people died in Khmelnytskyi, and two in Zaporizhzhia.
At that time, Russia attacked Ukraine with more than 60 Shaheds and almost 90 missiles of various types. including aeroballistic "daggers".
As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, 92 aerial targets were destroyed, according to the Air Force: 55 Shaheds, 35 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles and 2 Kh-59 guided air missiles. It was not possible to shoot down most of the missiles, because they hit regions where it is not possible to shoot down ballistic missiles and the air defense system is not as powerful as in Kyiv.
Rockets also destroyed energy facilities in Lviv Oblast and the Burshtynska CHP in Frankiv Oblast.
On March 24, Russia launched another combined missile attack on Ukraine.
Some of the missiles hit Kyiv, others flew to Lviv region and hit energy facilities there. One missile even flew to Poland for 39 seconds.
At the same time, most of the rockets hit gas facilities near Stryi. Two Kinjal missiles hit there at 9 a.m. that day. The authorities did not report any casualties during that attack.
According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on March 24, the Russians attacked with 29 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles and 28 Shahed-type attack drones, the Ukrainian military destroyed 18 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles and 25 Shahed attack drones. Two morning "daggers" could not be knocked down.
On the morning of March 25, Russia attacked Kyiv with Zircon missiles, both were shot down, but the Academy of Arts was destroyed in Kyiv. There were no victims.
Before that, Russia launched massive combined missile strikes throughout the winter, but took a pause in massive shelling from February 15, continuing bloody pinpoint strikes on various cities in eastern and southern Ukraine.
