In the Poltava region, a court sentenced a serviceman to 9 years in prison for the intentional killing of a civilian. The incident occurred in the fall of 2022 in the gray zone, the village of Kopanky, Kharkiv region.
According to the investigation, the situation was as follows: the soldier served in the gray zone and lived in one of the houses of the village. At the request of the platoon commander, a local resident came to this house on bribery to carry out repair work, he blocked the windows and doors of the house. After the repair, the peasant began to tell the soldier that he supports Russia and does not respect the Armed Forces.
According to the case file, the soldier fired two shots into the air from an AK-74 machine gun to scare the peasant and force him to leave. However, he continued to speak. After that, the soldier shot the man with a direct shot to the head.
"A soldier, acting deliberately, pursuing an intention aimed at intentionally unlawfully causing death to another person, being aware of the socially dangerous nature of his actions, foreseeing their consequences and desiring them, for reasons of personal hostility,.... fired a short-range shot into the person's head," the case documents state. As a result, the court found the soldier guilty of intentional murder of a civilian and sentenced him to 9 years in prison.
