Yulia Sanina is once again at the center of a scandal. The reason is her explanation for why her husband Valeriy Bebko, guitarist and producer of The Hardkiss, did not return to Ukraine after the start of a full-scale war. According to the singer, the family left before February 24, 2022. But this information has no documentary confirmation, so it caused a wave of indignation on social networks.
In a recent interview on the show “20:23,” Sanina assured that their family simply “had the opportunity” to stay abroad and she thanks God every day for not having seen the horrors of the beginning of the invasion. She comes to Ukraine “occasionally,” but believes that performances are not about earning money, but about an internal duty to the audience.
“I could not work at all. But we continue to tour with concerts, pay taxes, help the army. I invested a lot of money in the show in Ukraine, although they told me: 'Yulia, do you even want to earn anything?'” – said the artist.
But these words backfired. Social media erupted with anger: users questioned Sanina's sincerity and accused her of double standards. The biggest outrage was caused by the fact that the entire male line-up of the band, according to commentators, is still abroad.
“Under the guise of 'charity' concerts, she took the band out — and no one came back,” Ukrainians are outraged.
Users are asking directly: how did all the musicians manage to leave Ukraine and why none of them returned? Sanina is accused of speculating on the topic of war, because she continues to perform outside the country, while decorating the microphone with a Ukrainian flag.
At the same time, the singer herself says that she does not regret her choice to stay abroad, and that her main mission is to support the audience and the army. However, the public increasingly sees in this position a desire to maintain comfort under the guise of charity.
