Mukachevo is once again discussing the case of Andriy Horvat, the son of a deputy of the Transcarpathian Regional Council, Heorhiy Horvat, who is suspected of several criminal episodes. After the decision of the appeals court, he was released from custody on bail and has already been seen in the city.
This was reported by journalist Vitaliy Glagola, citing his own sources.
This is a high-profile story that became public on January 19, 2026. Then the court chose Andriy Horvat as a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to post bail. The decision was made after considering the case of the brutal beating of a 20-year-old boy in Mukachevo. Both main defendants were taken into custody right in the courtroom.
According to the investigation, the incident occurred on New Year's Eve near the Orkestr restaurant. A group of young men, including the son of a regional council member, chased the victim and hit him with their hands and objects, preventing him from leaving the scene. The actions were classified as hooliganism committed by a group of individuals with particular audacity.
At the time of his arrest, Horvat was already involved in another criminal case — a case of the robbery of a migrant worker, from whom more than 5,000 euros and cash were stolen. He had previously been released from pre-trial detention on bail of 10 million UAH in this case.
However, as it has now become known, on February 24, the appeals court reviewed the preventive measure. The judges changed the first instance decision and determined the possibility of posting bail - 266 thousand hryvnias.
Bail was posted, after which the suspect left the pre-trial detention center. According to the journalist's sources, Andriy Horvat was seen on the streets of Mukachevo in the coming days.
Thus, the decision to detain without alternative was actually in effect for a little over a month.
The case of the beating and other criminal episodes is currently being considered by law enforcement agencies. The final legal assessment of the suspect's actions must be provided by the court.
