Ukrainian singer Sofia Rotaru, who has lived and worked in Russia for a long time, expressed her support for Ukraine with the start of a full-scale Russian invasion in 2022. However, despite this gesture, the artist remains reticent and does not go on stage.
The artist's director, Sergei Lavrov, told Russian media that Rotaru currently has no plans to return to concert activities. This information appeared against the background of rumors from Russian propagandists about the singer's possible participation in the Song of the Year festival. Lavrov clearly denied these assumptions, noting: "No, Sofia Mikhailovna will not perform. But she is fine.".
He also spoke about his recent call to the singer, during which he congratulated her sister, Aurika Rotaru, on her birthday. The director emphasized that the issue of the artist's return to the stage depends solely on her own decision.
"It's the same as if you asked me how Edita Stanislavovna Piekha is doing and whether we should expect her return to the stage. God bless them both with health. Let's hope that Sofia Mikhailovna will make some decision. And then, how is her health. The artist is not young," Lavrov added.
Let us remind you that Rotaru's support for Ukraine during the war, albeit without active performances, testifies to her position in this difficult time. While the singer remains off the stage, fans are waiting for any news regarding her possible return.
