Oleksandr Petrakovskii, an employee of the Ukrainian News agency, went missing on the front line in the conflict zone in the east of Ukraine. He disappeared as a result of a mine explosion when his position was fired upon by the enemy.
"My friend and colleague Oleksandr Petrakovskii went missing in the battle near Chasov Yar. A mine flew into the dugout. No one else came out of it. They searched for the wounded with a copter. Ours went twice to collect the bodies, but without success. The position is now under enemy control. Sanya could not go to war - he had a legitimate reason. But from the first days of the invasion, he went to the TRO to defend his native Irpin," writes the general director of the Ukrainian News Agency, Denys Ivanesko.
Oleksandr is officially considered missing.
"Notify relatives... that the commander of the mechanized company of the A42 military unit, junior lieutenant Oleksandr Viktorovych Petrakovskii, born in 1977, is faithful to the military oath, having shown steadfastness and courage during a combat encounter with the enemy near the town of Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region, on 30.05. 2024, went missing under special circumstances while performing military duty," the command of the military unit said in a message to the soldier's relatives.
Oleksandr Petrakovskii has worked at "Ukrainian News" since 2014. He is survived by his wife, two children and a sick father, reports Denys Ivanesko.
