On the front line in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine, an employee of the Ukrainian News Agency, Oleksandr Petrakovsky, went missing. He disappeared as a result of a mine explosion when his position was under fire from opponents.
“My friend and colleague Oleksandr Petrakovskyi went missing in the battle near Chasov Yar. A mine landed in the dugout. No one else came out of it. They searched for the wounded with a helicopter. Our people went to pick up the bodies twice, but to no avail. The position is now under enemy control. Sanya could not have gone to war - he had a legitimate reason. But from the first days of the invasion he went to the TRO to defend his native Irpin,” writes Denys Ivanesco, general director of the Ukrainian News agency.
Officially, Alexander is considered missing.
"To inform relatives... that the commander of the mechanized company of military unit A42, Junior Lieutenant Petrakovsky Oleksandr Viktorovych, born in 1977, faithful to the military oath, having shown steadfastness and courage during a combat clash with the enemy near the town of Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region on May 30, 2024, went missing under special circumstances while performing military duty," the military unit command said in a message to the soldier's relatives.
Oleksandr Petrakovskyi worked at Ukrainy Novinky since 2014. He is survived by his wife, two children, and a sick father, reports Denys Ivanesco.
