Warming is expected in Ukraine from the beginning of March , but the temperature contrast between regions will be significant. According to forecasters, in the west , thermometers will rise to +10°C , while in the east, night frosts will persist .
This was told by Natalia Ptukha, a forecaster at the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, in an interview with OBOZ.UA.
In Ukraine, spring warming will begin in early March, which will replace the winter cold with more moderate temperatures. According to weather forecasters, the temperature in the country will gradually increase by March 1. The night frosts that are currently felt in the east will gradually weaken. If on February 27, nights with temperatures down to -16 degrees are expected in the east, then on Monday, March 1, temperatures may rise to -10 degrees.
Despite the general warming, precipitation will not be long in coming: from February 28, an atmospheric front will approach the western regions, bringing moderate rains with sleet. In the first days of March, sleet is expected in these regions, which may also sweep across the southern regions.
From March 1, a further increase in temperature is expected in Ukraine. In most regions, the temperature at night will be within -1…-6 degrees, and during the day — from 0 to +5 degrees. In Transcarpathia, the temperature may rise to +9 degrees during the day. However, in the east, frosts will still remain at night (-7…-12 degrees), although not as strong as before.
In the first days of spring, the temperature in Ukraine will gradually change, and on March 2-3, the temperature at night will range from -4 to +2 degrees, and during the day from +1 to +7 degrees. However, the east will remain cool with frosts at night, down to -4…-10 degrees, and during the day from -4 to +2 degrees.
The wind in early March will shift from southeast to southwest, which will also contribute to a change in weather conditions in the country. Forecasters warn that these days in the western regions, as well as in Cherkasy, Odessa and some northern regions, light precipitation in the form of wet snow is possible.
So, in the first days of March, Ukraine will experience a significant difference in temperature conditions depending on the region, as well as the likelihood of wet snow and rain.
Recall that January 2025 became the hottest January on record, breaking the previous record and stunning climatologists. Scientists expected that the influence of the La Niña phenomenon would break the streak of abnormal heat.
