March 2025 in Ukraine is expected to be warmer than average , and precipitation will be below normal . This forecast was published by the Ukrhydrometeorological Center .
According to the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, the first month of spring will be relatively warm. The average air temperature will range from 1°C to 7°C above zero, which is 1-1.5°C warmer than normal.
This means that in most regions, March will be much more comfortable than February, in which forecasters predicted temperatures from -3°C to +2°C.
Less than average precipitation is also expected. The forecast monthly precipitation is 22-42 mm (50-74 mm in places in the Carpathians), which is lower than normal March figures.
According to many years of observations, the average temperature in March is 0-6°C, and in the Carpathian highlands it is up to -3°C.
At the same time, the absolute temperature records for this month are quite significant:
- Minimum recorded temperature: from -20°C to -37°C, in Transcarpathia and the south - from -10°C to -27°C.
- The maximum recorded temperature: from +19°C to +29°C, in the Carpathians – +14°C…+16°C.
As for precipitation, the average for March is 26-51 mm. In Transcarpathia and mountainous areas, these figures can reach 56-106 mm, and in the Carpathian highlands up to 135 mm.
What can Ukrainians expect in March?
According to the Hydrometeorological Center's forecasts, Ukraine can expect a relatively mild start to spring with insufficient precipitation. This may have a positive impact on weather comfort, but some agricultural regions may face a lack of soil moisture.
It's also worth remembering that March is a transitional month, when significant temperature fluctuations and short-term cold snaps are possible. So don't rush to hide your winter clothes - the weather can still surprise you.
As a reminder, February 25 promises mostly cold weather for Ukraine, as an anticyclone continues to dominate the country, providing dry conditions. At night, the temperature in the east of the country will drop to -10-16°C, in other regions it will vary from -7 to -12°C, and in the west it will drop to -2-8°C.
