In the Chernivtsi region, border guards detained three citizens of Ukraine who tried to give a bribe for illegal crossing across the border. The State Border Service of Ukraine reported this on June 4.
The incidents occurred in different areas of the region, but united by a common scheme - an attempt to avoid the official crossing of the state border. In particular, two residents of Cherkasy region offered $ 2,000 to one of the border inspectors for assistance in the illegal crossing of the Ukrainian-Romanian border. They were detained during cash transfer.
On the same day, law enforcement officers recorded another case in a control post in the region. This time, a resident of Chernivtsi region gave the border guard $ 1500 for their help to leave Moldova outside the checkpoint.
All three men were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. They were suspected under Part 3 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (providing illegal benefit to an employee). The court chose a pre -trial detention measure with the possibility of bail.
The State Border Service called for citizens not to try to bribe officials, as such actions are punished by law and can lead to imprisonment for up to 8 years.
