On the front in the east of Ukraine, active fighting continues, especially northeast of Kupyansk and in the direction of Bakhmut, in the area of Robotyny and Verbovoy. Reports from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) confirm this information.
In the Luhansk Region, in the Kreminnaya area, the Russian troops were stationed near Terni and Bilogorivka. Positional battles continue along the line Kupyansk - Svatove - Kreminna. The activity of Russian troops was also recorded in the Donetsk region, in particular near Bakhmut and Avdiivka.
Information about the deployment of Russian troops in Ivanovsky (west of Bakhmut) has no confirmation, although some sources stated this. It is also claimed that Russian troops are trying to continue their offensive west of Avdiivka, but so far without significant success.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced the complete rotation of the brigade's units in the eastern direction, allowing them to regain strength. It is also known that the Russian military command is going to introduce additional elements into the battle for offensive operations west of Avdiivka.
Ukrainian experts confirm the movement of Russian troops and predict the possibility of their actions in the future, including the deployment of new units. The activity of units of the 90th tank division, which are trying to control strategic points in the region, is also noted.
The information from March 2 recorded the continuation of positional battles in the west and southwest of Donetsk, but there were no confirmed changes in the front line in this area. Fighting continued in the Krasnohorivka and Georgiivka regions to the west of Donetsk, as well as in the Pobieda and Novomykhailivka regions to the southwest of the city.
Although Russian "militants" insisted on the advance of Russian troops near Novomykhailivka, Georgiivka and Krasnohorivka, ISW could not find confirmation of these statements. It was also noted that Ukrainian minefields west of Donetsk complicate further operations of Russian troops.
Fighting continued within the administrative border between Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, but no changes were detected in the front line. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported an unsuccessful attack by Russian troops near Urozhany, south of Velika Novosilka. Russian sources claimed the advance of Russian troops near Marfopol and Gulyaipol, but these claims were not confirmed by ISW.
Also, on March 2, positional battles continued in the west of Zaporizhzhya region, in particular in the area of Robotynoy and Verbovoy to the east of Robotynoy. The Russian "military corps" reported a lull in the area, and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recorded only one failed attack by the Russians.
On the eastern (left) bank of the Kherson region, Russian troops achieved minor successes near Krynyk in the course of prolonged positional battles. Geolocation data indicates small victories for the invaders in the area.
