The US wants to complete the construction of the Khmelnytsky NPP

The United States showed significant interest in transferring Bulgarian nuclear reactors to Ukraine to complete the construction of the third and fourth power units of the Khmelnytsky NPP. Atlantic Council experts considered this issue, stressing that such a step will help strengthen Ukraine's energy independence and reduce Russian influence in the region.

In particular, the participation of the American company Westinghouse, which already provides nuclear fuel for both Ukrainian and Bulgarian stations, plays an important role. This will help ensure the integration of Bulgarian equipment at the Ukrainian nuclear power plant and thereby meet Ukraine's urgent electricity needs. In addition, such support will significantly weaken Russian positions both in Ukraine and in the Balkans.

The strategic strengthening of Ukraine's nuclear potential will improve its economic prospects and prepare it for a possible role as a key supplier of energy for Europe in the post-war period. This development of events is promising for the entire West, especially in the conditions of the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

To implement this step, European funds aimed at restoring the Ukrainian economy can be used. The United States can also provide support by allocating additional assistance to ensure the stability of Ukraine's energy sector.
