The winner of the title "Miss Lviv 2021", Veronika Benyakh, found herself at the epicenter of a loud scandal due to an incident with a war veteran that happened in Lviv. Mykola Grigorenko, a soldier who became disabled as a result of hostilities, accused the company Benyakh belonged to, that their car was parked in a parking space for people with disabilities. The conflict broke out near one of the supermarkets, where Mykola, losing patience because their car was blocking the place, turned to the drivers.
The incident gained resonance after Orina Hryhorenko, the veteran's wife, described the situation on her Facebook page, saying that disrespecting the soldier without a leg was unacceptable. She said that Mykola almost fell when one of the drivers of the Benyakh company pushed him. This sparked outrage on social media and accusations began to circulate.
For her part, Veronika Benyach denied the accusations. She explained that the car only partially pulled into the parking space and that the conflict actually arose because of the taxi driver, who parked incorrectly, and after he left, an argument began between them. According to her, the accusations are a distortion of the facts, and she would not allow disrespectful treatment of a veteran.
Later, journalists found out that the driver of the car involved in the conflict, Oleksandr-Yaroslav Protsailo, admitted that he had stopped in a place that was not quite allowed, but assured that he was not occupying a parking space for people with disabilities. He confirmed that during the conflict he told the veteran the phrase "go fight on", but believes that the situation was provoked by mutual grievances.
As it turned out, Oleksandr-Yaroslav Protsailo repeatedly got into unpleasant situations related to offenses, in particular, road accidents and drunken driving, which also became a topic of discussion.
Law enforcement officials are investigating the situation. According to representatives of the patrol police, the case did not enter the register of pre-trial investigations, as no injuries were recorded. However, administrative sanctions against participants in the conflict are possible.
