Ukraine is preparing to produce pickup trucks and SUVs for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The plan involves production at the Cherkasy Bus Plant “Ataman”. This step will contribute to the effective performance of combat missions at the front and in front-line areas, making it a significant event in the automotive industry in 2024. Oleksandr Dorosh, a member of the plant’s board, noted that the plant is ready to produce cars that are already well-known on the market – Isuzu D-Max pickup trucks. At the moment, “Ataman” produces 67% of buses and 30% of trucks.
The planned Isuzu D-Max pickups will be equipped with a 1.9-liter diesel engine with a capacity of 120 to 163 hp, and their ground clearance will be 60 cm.
