Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, said that last week's plenary sessions of the parliament were canceled due to threats from the "European Solidarity" and "Holos" factions to delay the voting on a number of draft laws.
According to him, the representatives of these factions refused to help in the consideration of draft laws and tried to postpone the first reading. In particular, they did not agree with proposals to consider the issue of mobilization, defense fortifications and training programs for soldiers.
Deputies of the "Servant of the People" faction expressed their desire to go to the front to familiarize themselves with the situation on the ground. According to Stefanchuk, they had this right according to the regulations, so part of the faction went to the area.
It was noted that the organization of meetings was also complicated by the demands of opposition factions, in particular, regarding permits for foreign trips and business trips.
It is worth noting that the Council decided to postpone the meetings scheduled for March 6, 7 and 8. The reasons for this decision were considered different, but one of them is the dissatisfaction of the opposition factions, who demand permits for foreign trips and business trips. The head of the "Servant of the People" faction, David Arakhamiya, explained that the pause in the meetings is related to the need for deputies to work in the military's deployment zone.
