Activist and volunteer Serhiy Sternenko, who survived another assassination attempt on May 1, published a photo with the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk, and promised that those responsible for the attack will not escape punishment.
In the photo posted on Instagram, Sternenko stands next to Malyuk, captioning the photo with the Latin phrase Fiat justitia ruat caelum — "Let justice be done, even if the sky falls."
What happened on May 1st?
Sternenko was attacked in Kyiv. As a result of the attack, he received a gunshot wound. Thanks to the operational work of the Security Service of Ukraine, a 45-year-old woman, a native of Odessa, who had recently moved to the capital, was detained at the scene.
The investigation established that the woman was recruited remotely by Russian special services. According to the SBU, she had been preparing the attack for a long time, studying the activist's travel routes and ways to approach him. Her goal was to physically eliminate Sternenko.
The perpetrators were charged with two counts of high treason and attempted murder. On May 2, the court chose a preventive measure for her: detention without bail.
Sternenko believes that Russia is behind the attack. In his posts, he emphasized that the enemy will not achieve the desired result, and justice will be served.
