The former deputy defense minister of Ukraine, Anna Malyar, expressed the opinion that the main goal of Russia in Ukraine at the moment is not only large-scale offensive operations, but also the exhaustion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In her Telegram channel, she indicated that Russia is acting in such a way as to exhaust Ukraine as much as possible, hindering the creation of ammunition, the preparation of equipment, and psychologically breaking us.
"Their goal now is to wear us down as much as possible. So that we could not stockpile ammunition, could not prepare equipment, and morally broke down. They act in such a way that we do not have time to recover," said Malyar.
It is worth noting that the Russian forces use small group assault tactics, prompting the Armed Forces to waste a significant amount of ammunition.
At the same time, according to anonymous sources, Russia has started forming new military alliances, which may indicate readiness for the next stage of military operations.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, believes that Russia's "global actions" are planned after the presidential elections in March. Until now, the Russian Federation is directing its efforts to achieve only "tactical victories".
According to MI-6, the Russian offensive on several front lines may begin at the end of January. In particular, the Kharkiv direction is not the main one. Russia's main goal is to exhaust the Armed Forces, forcing Ukraine to spend its reserves on holding positions near Bakhmut/Avdiivka and Rabotino.
It is expected that the ground offensive could begin soon, with January 15 being mentioned as a possible date.
The situation in the east of Ukraine remains tense, and the need to build defense structures and maintain military reserves is growing.
