A new law on increased mobilization has come into force in Ukraine, introducing significant changes to military conscription. One of the main points is the lowering of the mobilization age to 25 years and restrictions on deferral of military service for men studying in higher education. Starting July 1, students who are pursuing a second or third degree, as well as those who are studying in absentia or are receiving education at a level lower than that already obtained, may be called up.
The Ministry of Education and Science has abolished the possibility of contractual admission to full-time postgraduate studies, doubling the number of budget places in line with increased demand among those liable for military service. These steps have caused a sharp public outcry, in particular from MP Yulia Grishina, who expressed disagreement with the changes introduced during the admission campaign.
These innovations have aroused great interest and discussion, as the changes require participants in the educational process to adapt to the new conditions of military mobilization.
