A new law on strengthening mobilization entered into force in Ukraine, which made significant changes to military conscription. One of the main points is the lowering of the mobilization age to 25 years and the limitation for men who are studying higher education regarding deferment from military service. From July 1, students who are getting a second or third higher education, as well as those who are studying part-time or are getting an education at a level lower than the one they have already received, can be called up.
The Ministry of Education and Science canceled the possibility of contractual admission to full-time postgraduate studies, doubling the number of budgetary places in accordance with the increased demand among conscripts. These steps caused a sharp public outcry, in particular from People's Deputy Yulia Hryshyn, who expressed her disagreement with the changes introduced during the introductory campaign.
These innovations aroused great interest and discussion, since the changes require the participants of the educational process to adapt to the new conditions of military mobilization.
