The court ruled in favor of the Ministry of Justice regarding the banning of eight pro-Russian organizations coordinated by former People's Deputy Viktor Medvedchuk, according to the materials of the Security Service of Ukraine. Information about this was disclosed in the press service of the SBU administration in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
These "public organizations" planned a coup d'état in Ukraine, which was supposed to coincide with the beginning of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in February 2022. Their goal was to help the aggressor in the capture of Kyiv and the subsequent occupation of the entire territory of Ukraine. Representatives of these organizations planned to organize a "national meeting" in Kyiv with the aim of presenting an ultimatum to the authorities demanding the removal of the country's military and political leadership. In case of refusal, they intended to seize key state institutions in the capital and other regions of Ukraine, for which they planned to form combat groups of more than half a thousand armed people.
The Security Service of Ukraine early detected enemy attacks in 2022 and prevented their implementation. As a result of the special operation, three organizers of the crime were detained even before the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. In August 2023, the perpetrators were sentenced to prison terms, and a Russian citizen who directed the subversive activities of Medvedchuk's "public organizations" from Russia was convicted in absentia.
The court decision, based on the SBU's evidence, led to the ban and forced dissolution of the following organizations:
- International public organization "We are the people of Ukraine";
- All-Ukrainian public organization "All-Ukrainian Hetman Cossacks named after Ivan Bohun";
- "Cathedral Cossacks";
- "Cathedral Cossacks" "Kharkiv District";
- "Cossack Cathedral" "Baryshivska Stanytsia";
- "Cathedral Cossacks" "Kyiv District";
- "Cathedral Cossacks" "Lviv District";
- "Cathedral Cossacks" "Sumy District".
Complex measures were carried out by SBU employees in the Ivano-Frankivsk region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
