The Darnytskyi District Court of Kyiv issued a sentence to a 45-year-old resident of the capital, who in January this year called the police and declared his intention to blow up the Southern Bridge. As the investigation established, the man was aware that his words were not true, but deliberately committed the crime, causing panic and the threat of destabilization.
The replacement report came to the special line "102" in January 2025. After receiving the call, law enforcement officers immediately organized a bridge inspection, which caused considerable inconvenience for Kyiv residents. During investigative actions, the man refused to explain his motives.
Prosecutors of the Darnytsia District Prosecutor's Office supported the prosecution in court. The court found the man guilty under Part 2 of Art. 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (deliberately false notice of the threat of safety of citizens).
The accused was appointed 4 years of imprisonment. Prior to the entry into force of the sentence, it will be in custody.
Investigation in the case was conducted by investigators of the Darnytskyi Police Department of Kyiv.
This case is reminiscent of strict responsibility for false reports of terrorist attacks. According to Ukrainian law, such crimes may be punishable by fines, restrictions or imprisonment for a term of up to 8 years in case of serious consequences.
