"The defendants in the case of sexual violence against a girl in Transcarpathia received a real term of imprisonment. The court sentenced each of them to 6 years in prison. The court did not establish grounds for releasing the defendants from probation," the report says.
In addition, the court partially satisfied the civil claim of the injured party. Of the claimed 450 thousand hryvnias in moral damages, the court recovered 300 thousand hryvnias from the defendants, since they had already reimbursed part of the money.
It is also noted that the accused were taken into custody in the courtroom.
Rape of a minor in Transcarpathia
In August 2021, three teenagers raped a 14-year-old girl in the village of Verkhni Vorota (Transcarpathian region). They filmed their abuse, which they then shared with their classmates.
In March 2023, the Volovets District Court sentenced the defendants to five years in prison, but since they were underage, they were released from serving their sentences, assigning them a probationary period of 2 years.
Due to the lenient sentence, the girl's prosecutors and lawyers appealed the decision. The appeals court later overturned the verdict and ordered a new trial, which, according to the victim's representatives, the defendants' defense tried to delay.
In October 2024, it became known that two boys tried to mobilize to avoid punishment. But they were denied this.
