The Solomensky District Court of Kyiv ordered the National Anti -Corruption Bureau of Ukraine to open criminal proceedings against former Minister of Culture Alexander Tkachenko. The corresponding decision was the result of a complaint from the lawyer of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, headed by the Metropolitan of the UOC MP Paul (Swan).
The plaintiffs demand to investigate the allegedly misuse of budget funds in the amount of UAH 1.9 million, as well as the uneconomical spending of another UAH 29.5 million. The complaint appears not only the ex-Tkachenko, but also his former deputy Rostislav Karandeyev and officials of the National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra".
Earlier, NABU refused to open the proceedings without seeing the signs of a criminal offense. However, the court ruled that the information stated in the complaint was needed in criminal proceedings and obliged the detectives to register the case.
The public initiative comes from representatives of the UOC -MP, who, against the background of many years of conflict, accuse representatives of state power over the use of the premises of Lavra. Oleksandr Tkachenko himself did not comment on the court's decision.
The court's decision does not mean proving guilt, but requires law enforcement officers to start an official investigation. NABU should provide data to the ERDR and start checking the facts stated in the complaint.
