According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, in 2024, 189 offenses related to the abuse of animals were registered in Ukraine. Of these, 46 cases have already been transferred to court.
In total, over the last four years, 717 offenses have been registered in Ukraine due to animal cruelty. 213 cases were sent to court.
In Ukraine for January-December 2024, 189 criminal proceedings under Article 299 of the Criminal Code-animal cruelty. 358 proceedings were registered. Of this number, 172. 46 proceedings were sent to court due to ill -treatment.
According to the data provided, the most criminal offenses due to animal cruelty in 2024 was in:
⦁ Kiev - 27;
⦁ Poltava region - 18;
⦁ Dnipropetrovsk region - 17;
⦁ Zhytomyr region - 14;
⦁ Kharkiv - 13.
At the same time, only 6 proceedings were sent to the court, 3 - 3, Dnipropetrovsk - 1, Zhytomyr region - 4 and in Kharkiv region - 7.
2021 before the start of a full -scale war in Ukraine was recorded - 203 criminal offenses due to animal cruelty.
At that time, 62 cases were directed by the number of offenses of the Odesa region - 25, Lviv region - 21 and Dnipropetrovsk region.
In 2022, 150 offenses were recorded. Most in the Odessa region - 21, Kharkiv region - 14 and 12 in the Kiev region. In total, 52 cases were sent to court due to ill -treatment of animals.
In 2023, the number of offenses due to ill -treatment of animals increased by 25 criminal offenses compared to the previous year and was 175 proceedings. 53 cases were sent to court.
