The Shevchenkivskiy District Court of Kyiv has entered the final stage of the trial of the former head of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Oleg Kulinich. According to information from the Attorney General's Office, the final phase of the evidence review is currently underway, after which there will be a debate and the announcement of the verdict.
Kulinich is accused of committing numerous criminal offenses under the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including treason, participation in a criminal organization, illegal possession of firearms, and others. He faces life in prison on these charges.
Detained in July 2022 by employees of the State Bureau of Investigation and the Security Service of Ukraine, Kulinich, according to the investigation, worked for the Russian special services under the pseudonym "Kotygoroshko". He received confidential information from the head of the SBU at the time, Ivan Bakanov, and passed it on to Russian intelligence agencies.
In addition, the investigation established that Kulinich was a confidant of ex-Deputy Secretary of the National Security Council Volodymyr Sivkovich, who has been in Moscow since 2014. He was assigned the task of introducing "his people" into the power structures of Ukraine and carrying out intelligence and subversive activities.
We will remind that the SBI completed the investigation of the criminal proceedings regarding Kulinich's treason back in April 2023, after which the case was referred to the court.
