The Canadian government has officially extended duty-free imports of Ukrainian goods until June 9, 2026. This is stated in a statement published on the country's government website.
The decision comes amid continued support for Ukraine, recently reaffirmed by G7 finance ministers and central bank governors. Canada said the move is aimed at mitigating the economic consequences of the war, including export difficulties caused by Russian aggression involving Belarus.
The Canadian government emphasized that the country remains in solidarity with the Ukrainian people in their struggle for independence, territorial integrity, and democratic values.
The previous regime, introduced in June 2022, allowed Ukraine to export goods worth over $35 million to Canada, of which $8.5 million would have been paid in customs duties. Now, Ukrainian businesses will be able to save over $1.2 million over the next year.
Canada also confirmed that it will continue military, financial and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. The duty-free regime is one of the steps towards deepening bilateral cooperation and restoring the Ukrainian economy.
