Svetlana Tarabarova, a famous Ukrainian singer, shared her thoughts about her former colleague and friend Regina Todorenko, who now lives in Russia. Tarabarova confirmed that she no longer maintains contact with Todorenko due to her position on the war in Ukraine.
Tarabarova and Todorenko have been close friends since their time in the girl group Real O. However, with the beginning of Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine in February 2022, their relationship changed. Svetlana Tarabarova noted that she tried to convey to Todorenko the truth about the situation in Ukraine and the crimes committed by Russia. However, Todorenko ignored these attempts and did not respond to the calls.
“At the beginning of the war, everyone looked to Russian artists and opinion leaders, looking for support or condemnation, some kind of reaction. But now, in the third year of the war, it is already clear that this will not change anything. So why are we dragging Russians into our information space again?” Tarabarova said.
To date, Svetlana Tarabarova and Regina Todorenko do not communicate. Tarabarova emphasized that she does not want to discuss Todorenko and her position, considering it unnecessary. She also noted that it is difficult for her to imagine life without a cynical attitude towards those who continue to live in the aggressor country and silently support the Putin regime.
Regina Todorenko, who had already lived and worked in Russia before the war, not only did not speak out against Russia's actions after the start of the aggression, but also did not comment on the shelling of her native Odessa. In her rare public statements, Todorenko explains her silence by political differences with her husband Vlad Topalov and a lack of desire to discuss politics in order to save her marriage.
