Today is celebrating the Day of the State Emblem of Ukraine , World Whale and Dolphin Day and International Tug of Tug . Each of these holidays has its own unique history and symbolism.
On February 19, 1992, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a resolution by which the official symbol of the country became a gold trident on a blue shield - a national symbol of Ukrainians of the liberation competitions of the XX century, which has the status of a small coat of arms and is a major element of the future of the Great Emblem. Therefore, this day is decided to determine the Day of the State Emblem of Ukraine.
This symbol has a deep historical root that reaches the princely era of Kievan Rus and the Rurik family. It is known that the trident was used as a state sign in the Ukrainian People's Republic (UNR), which emphasizes the gravity of Ukrainian statehood.
The Small State Emblem is one of the main state symbols together with the Constitution, Flag and Anthem. Its image can be seen on the seals of state bodies, banknotes, official documents and service certificates.
February 19, also celebrates World Mammalian Protection Day , also known as World Whale and Dolphin Day.

According to legend, St. Archip was persecuted by the Gentiles for faith in Christ, exposing him to cruel torment. However, he remained adamant and professed Christianity for the rest of his life.
In Ukraine, this day is honored by defenders of faith and ascetics. In folk traditions it was believed that Archip protects the homes from disaster and evil eye.
