Sweden will not transfer Gripen aircraft to Ukraine

Sweden decided not to transfer Gripen fighters to Ukraine, preferring to supply F-16s.

This was stated by Swedish Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist, commenting on the government's recent decisions to support Ukraine in the context of the ongoing conflict with Russia.

“Other coalition countries have urged us to wait with the Gripen system. This is due to the fact that the main focus is now on the implementation of the F-16 system,” Paul Yunson is quoted as saying by Reuters.

Negotiations with Ukraine about the possibility of transferring Gripen began last year. Ukrainians have even begun training on them.
