The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga, said that the threats of Russian President Vladimir Putin should not affect the position of Ukraine's allies. He emphasized that Putin's rhetoric, which was used to pressure the West, proved ineffective, and called on allies to increase their support for Ukraine.
Sybiga recalled that in the spring of 2022, Putin threatened severe consequences in case of providing weapons to Ukraine for defense. However, despite the provision of weapons, Putin did not carry out the promised actions. This rhetoric has been repeated several times in recent years, but has not brought the desired result for the Kremlin.
"When Putin is faced with power, he backs down and finds ways to explain it to his people," Sibiga said. He emphasized that Putin's threats are aimed at weakening the support of Ukraine from Western allies. Instead, according to the minister, allies should not reduce, but increase their aid.
Sybiga called on the allies to remove restrictions on the provision of military aid and to strengthen Ukraine's long-range, air shield, as well as economic and energy stability. He emphasized that fear and procrastination lead to greater losses and crises, and that courage is needed to restore peace.
"Courage, not fear, is needed to restore peace," the minister summed up.
