Strong magnetic storms will cover Ukraine on April 19 and 21

In the coming days, Ukrainians can feel the effects of strong solar activity. Magnetic storms can cause headache, fatigue, irritation and other unpleasant symptoms - especially in weather -dependent people.

According to NOAA (Space weather forecasting center), Red Level brown is expected on April 19 and 21-with K-Index 5 and 6, respectively. This is already classified as a strong geomagnetic activity, which can affect not only health but also communication, GPS and electronics.

On Sunday, April 20, the storm will be weaker-K-Index 3 (green level), that is, no significant effect on the body is expected.

What is a magnetic storm and what is it dangerous

Magnetic storms occur due to flashes in the sun that emit charged particles. When these particles reach the earth, they interact with its magnetosphere - and it causes fluctuations in atmospheric pressure, electrical failures, as well as physiological changes in the body.

The first symptoms may be:

  • headache;

  • decrease in concentration;

  • insomnia;

  • irritability;

  • General weakness.

How to protect yourself during magnetic storms

Experts advise:

  • sleep at least 7-8 hours;

  • limit coffee, alcohol and fatty foods;

  • drink a lot of water and herbal teas;

  • do light exercise or walks;

  • avoid stress, conflict and fatigue;

  • Take a contrast shower in the morning and a warm bath in the evening.

Particularly careful should be people with chronic diseases - pressure, heart, breathing. They are advised to keep their medicines and, if possible, restriction on peak days.

Remember: magnetic storms are not a catastrophe, but a natural phenomenon. Timely reaction and care will help to maintain a well -being, even in the days of strong solar activity.
