The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has adopted a number of decisions to strengthen air defense in frontline and border areas. This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, noting that the measures are aimed at increasing the ability to detect and destroy enemy drones.
According to Syrsky, in September, during massive attacks, the Russian army used almost 6,900 drones, of which more than 3,600 were Shahed attack drones. Russia is constantly changing tactics, intensifying strikes on frontline areas, border areas, critical infrastructure facilities and civilian targets.
Among the main steps are an increase in the number of crews of interceptor drones, a systematic expansion of the staff of the relevant formations, intensification of specialist training and the creation of additional training resources. Syrsky emphasized that the majority of Russian strike UAVs are currently destroyed using such interceptors.
In addition to interceptor drones, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are developing the use of attack helicopters and light aircraft to destroy enemy drones at higher altitudes. In parallel, joint work is underway between the military and domestic manufacturers to improve and introduce new types of interceptors. A command of unmanned air defense systems is being formed within the Air Force.
The Commander-in-Chief instructed all involved structures to increase the effectiveness of defeating enemy UAVs and deploy new units equipped with appropriate means to stay ahead of the enemy's technological improvements.
