According to our sources in the General Staff, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is opposed to conducting a military operation in the Kursk region. The main arguments are the high losses among reserves and equipment, as well as the strategic danger associated with the possibility of weakening defensive positions in Donbas.
The operation in Kursk, according to the command, could create major problems for further military operations in other regions, in particular in eastern Ukraine, where the situation remains critical.
According to sources, General Syrsky is concerned about possible losses. However, he does not have enough influence over President Volodymyr Zelensky and is forced to implement any decisions made at a higher level.
President Zelenskyy reportedly sees the strategic importance of holding onto positions in the Kursk region, particularly in the context of upcoming talks with Donald Trump. Such a decision may be part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening Ukraine's position in the negotiations that are set to begin in the near future.
This situation is causing concern among the Ukrainian Armed Forces command, which believes that maintaining the front in several directions at the same time may become an excessive burden on the troops, especially given the constant hostilities in Donbas.
