The Russians partially control Berdychi and Tonenka, but their advance in the Avdiyiv direction has been stopped, Dmytro Likhovy, spokesman for the operational-strategic group of troops "Tavria", stated on the air of the telethon.
Earlier, Bild analyst Julian Röpke reported that, according to his data, the Russian army partially controls Berdychi, the southern part of Orlivka and part of Tonenko. And along the lines of these three villages, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are trying to build and hold a new line of defense.
It should be noted that, according to a number of mass media and experts, Ukraine in reality intends to build a defense line not in Orlivka and Tonenko, but a little further - on the opposite bank of the reservoirs. In this case, persistent defense in these villages may be an attempt to buy time to set up positions.
As for the Berdychs, they are more important than Orlivka and Tonenke, since they are located on the flank near the new expected line of defense. And if the village is taken, the Russians will be able to further develop their offensive on the opposite bank of the reservoir and prevent the armed forces from gaining a foothold there.
Also, the situation around Ocheretiny, which is located northwest of Avdiivka on the dominant height, will be of great importance for the further course of battles around Avdiivka. Ocheretyne is currently under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but is subject to massive Russian shelling.
