Ukraine once again faced massive missile strikes by the Russian Federation, which this time were aimed at the country's energy infrastructure. The Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Galushchenko, said that as a result of this attack, the situation in Ukraine's energy system is extremely difficult.
In connection with the damage caused by the Russian strikes, the operator of the electricity transmission system of Ukraine was forced to urgently introduce a mode of emergency shutdowns. This is a necessary step that will stabilize the power system and prevent large-scale power outages across the country.
"The enemy has no plans to deprive Ukrainians of light. The situation is difficult, the consequences of the attacks are being clarified," Galushchenko said.
After the attacks, the energy services of Ukraine immediately began work to eliminate the consequences. Despite all the difficulties, energy workers are making maximum efforts to restore electricity supply in the affected regions as soon as possible.
Today's attack was not limited to energy infrastructure. Explosions were heard in various regions of Ukraine in the morning. In particular, civil infrastructure objects in the Poltava region came under attack, where five people were injured as a result of the attacks. In Lutsk, an attack on an infrastructural facility was also recorded, resulting in the death of one person. A 69-year-old man died in the Dnipropetrovsk region as a result of the attack.
Reaction at the international level
Due to the threat of Russian missiles in the west of Ukraine, in the south-eastern part of Poland, Polish and allied aviation was raised, which indicates an increased threat to neighboring countries.
Due to the difficult situation in the energy sector, the capital authorities of Kyiv decided to deploy "Points of unbreakability", which will provide residents with heat and electricity in the event of further blackouts. Ukrzaliznytsia, for its part, has already brought out reserve diesel locomotives to ensure the uninterrupted transportation of passengers in the event of a blackout of electric trains.
