A case of theft occurred in Kyiv, which shocked the public and caused outrage among local residents. The taxi driver stole a significant amount of money from the widow of a soldier - 400 thousand hryvnias, which she received from the state as compensation for the death of her husband.
The widow wanted to spend these funds on the purchase of military equipment for her husband's relatives.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv police.
A 31-year-old woman was riding in a taxi with a bag containing 400,000 hryvnias - state aid that the applicant received for her husband who died in the war.
When she was at home, she found that the bag with money, which the woman planned to give to her husband's brothers for the purchase of military equipment, was missing.
"The victim contacted the taxi support service, however, they said that the driver did not find her belongings in his car," the message reads.
However, during investigative operations, the police received evidence of the driver's involvement in the theft of the victim's belongings.
"Law enforcement officers seized a bag from the 26-year-old taxi driver with the entire amount of money that he hid in advance, and returned it to the owner," the press service of the Kyiv police said.
The taxi driver has already been notified of the suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code - theft committed under martial law. He faces up to eight years in prison.
