A loud scandal took place in the Rivne region, which ended with the dismissal of the management of the regional anticancer center. After a video of a party where doctors allowed themselves to dance on tables during a scientific conference appeared on social networks, the head of the center Hryhoriy Maksymyak and three of his deputies were forced to resign.
This incident caused a wave of outrage among the public and the medical community. The video, which was published on Facebook by local journalist Olga Pidgoretska, quickly spread and caused a violent reaction. The footage shows how the participants of the conference, dedicated to topical issues of radiation oncology, had fun dancing on the tables in one of the hotel and restaurant complexes.
Oleksandr Koval, head of the Rivne Regional Military Administration (OVA), immediately reacted to the incident. In the morning, he met with Hryhoriy Maksymyak to discuss the situation. The meeting was short, and soon the head of the center wrote a letter of resignation, taking full responsibility for what happened. Three of his deputies also had to resign.
In her publication, Pidhoretska noted that she had nothing against the celebration, but the form of this action was absolutely unacceptable for a scientific conference, especially in the context of the topic of oncology. She expressed the opinion that such events can undermine trust in medical institutions and their management.
Despite the scandal, the cancer center continues to work as usual. The doctors who remained in their positions fulfill their duties, providing the appropriate level of medical care to patients.
