Abrams tanks are leaving Australia for Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held an important meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albenizi during his stay in Rome. The parties discussed defense assistance, strengthening the international coalition, and new sanctions against Russia.

During the meeting, the Ukrainian head of state thanked Australia and its people for their unwavering support in the war against Russian aggression. Zelensky stressed the importance of international unity, especially with the participation of partners from other continents. "Together, we can truly bring peace closer by putting pressure on the aggressor," the President noted.

One of the key topics of the talks was military support. Albenizi confirmed that Australia has already sent Abrams tanks to Ukraine, and the total amount of assistance has exceeded $ 1.5 billion. This includes both equipment and financial support on a long-term basis.

The leaders discussed the coordination of sanctions pressure on Russia and the possibility of new restrictions that could force the Kremlin to stop its aggression without preconditions. Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is synchronizing efforts with partners, including the United States, and supports any initiatives that will promote peace on Ukrainian terms.

They also discussed the future — Australia’s participation in the global coalition of the willing, which is working to provide security guarantees for Ukraine after the war. Both leaders agreed that a just and lasting peace is only possible with full sovereignty for Ukraine.

Prime Minister Albenizi clearly stated: “Russian aggression must be stopped, and we stand unequivocally with Ukraine. It is the Ukrainians who must determine their future.” These words confirmed Australia's consistent position in support of democracy and international law.
