Taras Topolya, frontman of the band Antitila, revealed in an interview that being on the front lines was a significant challenge for him. He had to deal with great responsibility and longing for his family, especially his children and his beloved, who he could not hug.
The singer spoke in detail about the most disturbing moments of his time at the front. Separation from his wife Olena and children proved to be a difficult ordeal.
“My “hard” life compared to other fighters who haven’t seen their families for years looks like kindergarten. We had Viber or Skype, we could call and chat. It made the situation a little easier,” the performer shared his impressions.
The artist also recalled an episode from the front that deeply affected him. In one case, the body of a National Guardsman was brought to him, and Topol had to unlock the deceased's phone to find his wife's contacts.
“I remember that situation, because that day was my 35th birthday,” added the surprised singer. “There was also a situation when it was not our team that carried out the evacuation. They brought a fighter, and it looked like he had already died. His comrades simply brought out the doctor and demanded to pump the defender out. We understood that this man had already left on the shield,” said Taras.
The Antitil frontman stressed that he would never forget the despair in the eyes of the deceased's brothers. Even in a similar situation, he would have acted the same way, even if he understood that saving the person was no longer possible.
“There were a lot of situations like that, and they were all difficult. But every other situation was also difficult. Everything was pretty difficult,” the musician concluded.
