The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities (NCRECU) has decided to significantly increase tariffs for natural gas transportation for the population.
The new tariffs will come into effect on January 1, 2025, and the cost of transportation will increase from 160 to 660 hryvnias per thousand cubic meters.
This is due to the cessation of Russian gas transit, the losses from which must now be compensated by domestic consumers.
“In 2024, 85% of our revenue was from gas transportation from Russia. The remaining 15% is provided by domestic customers. This tariff increase is not enough to fully compensate for the revenue, but we understand the need for balanced economic decisions,” said Dmytro Lippa, General Director of the GTS Operator of Ukraine.
